Never killed one below 9,000 feet, so get in shape - everywhere is uphill.
Horses are a paid in the *** - after 12 hours in the saddle.
Elk are EASY compared to whitetail.
Meat is better than beef, but costs a lost to ship back to NC.
Get in shape - or did I already mention that?

I hope that for you as well!

My tips is watch the wind, and when they depart the area due to your scent they GO! The other thing is keep your confidence up, it could happen at any minute!!! Take good glass and don't pass up on the first day what you would shoot on the last!

    Good Luck and be safe!

Practice with those open sights, since scopes not allowed, practice shots and get shooting sticks.
Also, walk, climb and do all the cardio you can......

since yoru from sw Illinois , do what they say, get them lungs working and legs pumping.

run< bike, if you cant get out side, get a gazelle and make them legs work.

your not gonna believe how much the thin air will make you feel like a sissy after 2 days.
really, the quicker you start, the better you will do.
