summer for us is seafood in Oregon. Probably for most folks. All these critters were within 7 miles of the house in July and made me reflect after a salmon dinner tonight. Butter clams, Dungeness crab, coho salmon and assorted bottom dwellers. We eat good. It's good to commingle. For example, filet coho, spread Dungeness crab on top, broil for 6 minutes. Take clams, add rockfish and crab and make a seafood soup similar to cioppino.
When I lived on the Oregon coast for a summer I couldn't believe how numerous crab were. They were so easy to catch, and they were still expensive at the market! I never did get out clamming. The area I was in was closed because of the toxin levels at the time.
