Finally finished up first Decoy

    Was working on this towards end of last month and finished it at last minute to send up to chesapeake challenge. didn't do great there but am happy to have first one under my belt now just need more time to work on them.

    That is great man! Expecially for your first bird! You should have seen my first attempt, the woodburner didnt even want it...:l

    great first bird. You really did a great job.

    What resources did you use? Beginning carvers could really find help in whatever you used before they jump in.

    no way thats your first bird! Nice work! At first I was going to comment that the laundry basket background didnt do much for me, but then I scrolled down and saw the baby wipe background.....:fp:l

    thanks for comments guys! really enjoyed it and learned alot in the process, best advice I can give to someone intrested in starting is find someone that you like the work they do and see if you can learn from them. camera blew out the colors on this with flash it actually looks better in hand than in these pictures. I've got a ringer that I'm working on also thats going to be a shelf bird but this one was made while I've been working on it. also starting on another hunting scaup this weekend with a higher head.
