Saw a COUPLE SMALL Canada migrator groups around my area the last few days...roosting and loafing in their normal wintering spots (spots that had been void of geese since last February/March). Probably moved in the end of last week and last weekend on the northerlies. Not much day field feeding going on yet, as corn is just recently harvested in my area, and the moon is very bright.

I know it isn’t with K’s theme but Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge NC held as many birds as I’ve ever seen there the last two days. Pintail, coots, gadwall, teal and others.

Only birds moving right now are your calendar ducks. Most are passing at night with full moon.

We are holding small flocks of Canadians in our area. Definite migrators. The first migrators usually start around the 25th of September but this year I didn't seem them until later. Now I've seen them two days in a row in the same field. But I think they moved their roost as last year I noticed/heard shots coming from their roost.

Heard geese flying last night pre-rain setting in. All of a sudden this am, a couple hundred geese roosting in my area, flying out from 7:45 this am to now to feed in fields. Most of the corn in my area has been harvested and fields prepared for next planting.

Heard and saw a flock of swans earlier this week. They usually come by around halloween. Getting reports of divers in the river, a few ruddies and bluebills. Theyll be gone before season comes in.

Laughed out loud yesterday while riding by the ponds at Central Park in Fredericksburg...looked like somebody put a swan decoy in one of the ponds, and in an adjacent pond there were two swans!
