Hunted salt marsh this morning. One flock of mallards, small flock of geese, and 2 bufflehead. Never fired the gun. Not many ducks around

Hunted a freshly inundated smartweed pocket this morning. No feathers in the grass, no ducks in the air. Ended up seeing 4 woodducks and 1 merganser all skirting the decoys. And a bunch of NG. Not a duck to be seen on any of the local ponds either. They were here 2 weeks ago.

They are all gone. Didn't see a handful of ducks...pitiful.

Anyone wish they could've hunted Halloween week? :dv At least this coming week will have fronts and maybe new birds. Halloween week and Thanksgiving week anyone? :dv

As for no wood ducks this late, that's still 90% of the ducks we are seeing and shooting. I wish we could've shot the variety two weeks ago.:pra

Not many birds really anywhere we hunt, but we have seen more shovelers lately. These usually come by Aug-Oct. so I'm thinking a lot of birds are still North of us. So if we don't get a major cold snap before the middle of Dec. We might still have some good hunting. Much better season than last year.

We’re seeing fair numbers of birds. Not really putting a lot on the game strap. As a 7 member group, we’ve managed our share of buffies, one mallard, one black duck, one goose, and a pair of Gadwall. Missed a couple of other ducks. Plenty of comments about how many ducks would have been harveted if we just set up differently; been ready; looked left instead of right; etc.... Pretty normal November season according to my logs. Not sure what the ducks per hunter/ per hour/ per effort would be, but we are still staying after them. Good luck in the next two days to you guys.

Hunted this morning. Usual flights of woodies at first light, then was actually surrised by a few groups of mallards. One flock of about 20. Hadn' seen them before today. Possibly new birds, not sure? Now the long wait till the 16

Have mentioned before on previous posts that there is a flock of common mergansers that winters/eats around my part of the river. They showed up Saturday...a group of seven, followed on Sunday by twenty five +- more.
This morning brought the first small flocks of buffleheads, as well as the commons in the water.
I imagine they are all moving ahead of the impending colder/normal temps weather that is supposed to move in Friday and last most of December.
