First time in the grasslands this year. I'm not expecting much but it will be better than sitting around. I'm pretty excited I'm taking my dog tomorrow. His name is chief 120lb Yellow lab. He is my service dog and is amazing at it. His main service other than bringing me joy is that he braces when my legs give out and can keep me up. He was deathly afraid of water until recently....if it was raining inside he wouldnt go on the grass to ****.... I had to make him a walkway out of pavers. He has always been a good retriever and took to whistle commands easily. The last few months he has been swimming in the mokulmne and delta so I figured I would take him for a test drive on my Solo hunt. Here is a few pictures of him and my other service dog loki the Norwegian Elkhound. Good luck tomorrow. Shoot straight. Russ. 20171124_164436.jpg 20171118_165008.jpg

My lab hates the rain and won't **** or crap in it. She goes under my overhang. She loves the water tho crazy stuff.
    Good luck on your hunt.

Hope you and your buddy have a great day. My sister raised and trained a service dog over the last 18 months. He has since graduated and moved on to the next level of specialized training. Ain't no way I could have a dog for 18 months then give it up, but knowing that they are going help someones life makes it worth it for my sister. Special dogs and special people. Good luck to you both!!!!

Hope you have a great hunt!

Strangely enough a lot of dogs don't like rain, particularly on pavement. I read that it's the sound of the raindrops hitting the ground that bothers them. They hear a high pitched sound that we don't hear. Don't know for sure if it's true, but it makes sense.

Ended up with first choice. Not many birds. Mostly high ones.
