Taking my elderly dad either to the Delta or reservoirs east of Lodi.
He prefers the the reservoirs, so I don't get caught up in duck scouting.
Read a report that Melones is doing pretty good.

    Anyone been out this weeek?

    All Intel is appreciated.

Haven't picked up a license yet, but will soon.
    Foothill lakes are looking good.
With the lack of precip will it make for an early bite?

I have not been, getting ready though... but you can get a lot of current info by looking at the lakes web sites or face book page...most list stocking info and fishing reports or check the more popular fishing web sites.

Melones just had the record rainbow broken with a 14 lb fish.

    good luck

They are catching huge crappie at New Melones about 75 feet deep jigging Castmasters, the small ones on island tops. Requires good sonar. They move up a little during the day. when you find them its easy limits

Salt Springs would be close for you and with its shallow areas the bass should be almost ready !

Thanks for the Intel guys. I must admit I am pretty clueless to fishing in my own back yard. I spend two months chasing salmon on the Klamath each year, and forget we have good fishing right here.

I'm thinking I might try the crappie. Never fished for them, and have never eaten one. Heard they make good fish tacos. Thanks Kevin.

Dad is excited, with his "new" mirror craft boat (1960 ish) with a late model E tech motor.

He is 90. Will post up some pics, regardless of success.

    Again thank you!

Crappie are very tasty... all the foothill lakes and clear lake in the last two years have exploded with crappie it's going to be another good season I think !

Just a Heads-up for a sandwich like that , Seaters shows he can be a animal at times , I see !
Do take a little time and prepare a shore lunch , it's actually better tasting than the picture ! IMO
