    One of the most inspiring books I ever read was Five Years to Freedom by (Col.) James Rowe. He was a Special Forces soldier captured in Vietnam and held for 5 years. It documents his daily struggles and how others died alongside him. He escaped only to be re-captured but eventually did succeed. He stayed in the Army but was killed later in life in the Phillipines (I believe).

    Guys like that are the epitamy of the American spirit. :tu
