    Davison, Mi
I have a field I am looking to flood but am not sure if I can due to the soil conditions, can anyone tell me what the ideal soil conditions should be to flood a field? The field I want to flood has a swale that pokes out into the field, where obviously all the water flows into and from there it flows into a pond 200 feet down hill. What I was planning on doing was building a dam all around the edge of the swale and into the field where I wanted it to be flooded, after it was flooded the water hole will by 100x100. After damming it up, I have large ponds on each side that I can use a trash pump to pump water to the spot. how long would it take the water to filter into the ground if the soil conditions were not ideal? Any help or experience from you guys would help, thanks

The first thing you should do is run a perk test on the area that you want to flood. If it will perk, it will be a running battle.
