I'm planning a trip to Ft Lauderdale in late October. I take the duck boat to do some scuba diving for lobster etc.

If it's too rough as it has been at times in the past, I try the intercoastal for whatever or the canals for Peacock Bass .

Any recommendations on canals or lakes? I have considered Okechobee but it might be too rough as well if the ocean is .

I'm taking the girlfriend so peacocks would be fun as well as any of the other tropical fish but regular bass and bluegill will also work.

Any bait stores that carry fresh water bait that you would recommend?

You should come Thanksgiving and hunt ducks too! The Big O has crested to 16' which is probably not good right now for fishing...from Lauderdale you could try canals bordering glades, like the Sawgrass area. Purple worm Texas rigged still gets some bass. You might find exotics in town too!

My budget requires off season prices...LOL!

Thanks! Yes I think it would be fun to catch a few exotics!

The fishing on Lake O will be good in late October, and there is always somewhere to get out of the wind and fish, think NW part of the lake.

We ended up in Clewiston out of the Roland Martin Marina. Spent two days fishing shiners and did ok when we found clearer water.

Caught a few Peacock bass on shiners in Miami.

Only managed two days of diving but took five lobster home.

    Had a great time overall!

Thanks for the help and suggestions!!!
