Now that the regular waterfowl seasons over I'm starting to get fired up
I have trouble not being fired up year round for turkey. My non-hunting co-workers just love it...
Was driving home from AR last night, and my buddy and I were already making big spring plans.
Good to know others have the same affliction....duck season ended this past sunday, all I can think of is scouting, a whippoorwill's song, camp fire, good night's sleep, the best cup of coffee, and maybe in the morning a booming gobble.
Arkansas:Mallard Capital. Here in Alabama:Turkey Capital...and i've got a Bachelor group that come to my garden spot just about everyday to feed in the Chuffa patch...
yes. Not long. Here birds gobbling during duck season quite a bit, and see very large winter flocks regularly. Have to pace yourself or you can hit overload before it ever opens.
Shooting a big dumb bird on the ground... I am embarrassed as to how much I get worked up about it.
And, yes, I believe they are stupid... But, they have keen hearing and vision, with one foot on the panic button at all times (which makes them challenging).
I'm ready. Come on April 10th.
They are the smartest dumbass in the woods! I'm certain they can hear you think.
Its a good thing mouth calls aren't as much as duck and goose calls or I'd be broke. I buy at least 5 new ones each spring, and if I'm lucky, end up finding one I like. That doesn't even count the 3 each I buy of the ones I do like.
March can't get here soon enough! I've had turkey on the brain since December when I drew my Florida permit. Osceola country here I come!
