    Floyd's 1921 Restaurant.

Shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, shrimp Napoleon, Flash fried oysters, fried shrimp and oyster plate, shrimp and scallop pasta.

    Everything was good.

    Prices were reasonable.

My go to down there is Ruddy Duck Tavern. Good food and good beer.

EL’s Drive Inn!!! El’s Super shrimp burger w/ketchup and slaw OR EL’s Super cheese burger all the way..... absolutely wonderful! Make sure you park in the shade, usually can catch a good breeze off the sound.

Floyd’s 1921 is very good, in a somewhat formal setting. It actually is in Beaufort, just across the bridge at the state port. Like me some RD Tavern too .. food is very good too.

We're really old, so somewhat formal is fine with us! They made us very comfortable.

    We went there twice.

Will try these other more laid-back places when we return.

How about down towards Emerald Isle? Any good places that are not so touristy?

Big Oak Drive In in Salter Path for lunch, get the soft shell sandwich or a shrimp burger, and the Crab Shack for supper if blue crabs are your thing. That's pretty much the last two original spots on that part of the island. Unfortunately everything else has largely been overrun with Dip Dotters trying to make a buck.

Been awhile since I’ve eaten down that way but I’ll second the Salter Path places. Guess they’re still good. I’d also head down to Cape Carteret and take HWY 58 to T & W Oyster Bar. Very well known and popular, even though local oysters won’t be in season at that time. I think their seafood is pretty good too. Look them up on the net.
