For cost effectiveness: 12"x12" Black cloth square stapled to a dowel rod. Can easily make a half dozen for under $10.

For best performance: Feet Down Designs

I have a couple that are at least 20 years old.
I have on the end of a B&M crappie pole.

i have a couple avery flags that are several seasons old. haven't had any issues other than the original plastic packaging finally broke. i found a flag holder last year that holds three flags. never pampered them and the only risk is that they have come close to being stepped on by folks getting in and out of the pit.

Randy changed the way I call geese!

I bought three of Randy's flags at some show special. Two are still in the wrappers,..
the flag Im using is 12-13 years old, in and out of the truck blind, trailer, dogs and people walking on it.

I won't buy any of the commercially manufactured flags. They all seem to brake.
