Anyone think this will be productive? It's a large field, close to 100 acres, and less than 10 miles by air to Mark Twain Lake. Plenty of ag land around.

I know corn is more productive, but this is the alternate year with soybeans. Is it worth a shot or probably not? Afternoons probably are better I'd think.

beans works when theres snow on the ground.... but never seen them in beans any other time Maybe pull some migrators but patterned birds are more than likely going from water to corn and return....

You would probably be better off on the lake

Is the lake pretty crowded? I've never hunted there before, but I've hunted other lakes and have no problem finding a spot. I just don't like setting up real close to other hunters.

With the small water icing up more people will be on the big water, but it seems like you would be able to find a spot on the lake, it is 18,000+ acres after all.

Beans are absolutely WORTHLESS! Only time birds use beans is if there's residual corn from the previous year.

I see corn stalks and cobs on the ground in your picture. Soy beans have nearly zero nutritional value to waterfowl and the birds know it. Several research papers on this. Waterfowl will absolutely fly over vast areas that are dominated by bean fields, even traditional stopover areas having adequate roosting waters. Soy Beans SUCK but I'm glad you had a good hunt.
