A young guy that works for me has been bit by the goose bug bad. He told me he and a couple friends of his were going to call about the goose pits that are advertised on the side of the road on Rt 213 I believe they are between Cecilton and the Bohemia River. Does anyone have any information on them

They are ALWAYS for rent which tells me that unless you have a big rig and are a great caller then they will be less than stellar fields.

Another thing he asked me. He found some real geese decoys but he said they were in bad shape. He asked me if I thought they could be painted. I've never had them so I have no idea. Anybody have any idea if they can be

I wouldn't hunt right there if it was free. He is better off hunting public land then those fields.

I used to hunt a farm not far from there, where the Bohemia river splits into two legs. Quit hunting there 8 or 9 yrs. ago. That area hasn't been worth a damn since then.

That area has been pretty dead. The river used to hold good numbers but not now. I think that area has declined as the amount of farms have decreased in Middletown. I used to hunt outside middletown and we would get a ton of birds coming off the roost from that area. Now that area holds just small numbers.
