I parked right at sunup this morning (road construction delayed my drive).

I walk in, sit down and a tom immediately starts gobbling... I do nothing.

I wait about an hour with continuous gobbling, but towards the last 15 minutes it seems to be going away.

So, I do a rookie mistake, get up and move to get to the edge of a ridge/hill. Just as I crest... I see him (big beard!!!!), and he starts the warning cluck and moves away.

My instinct is to not go back tomorrow and give it a few days.

Any thoughts from the more experienced guys?

Unless I had anot her place close by, I'd have given him an hour or two and gone after him. They get bumped by predators all the time, and they're back chasing tail in minutes.
