Ahhh, very nice! Thought you were talking a deer at first. Nice brown phase, looks like he has a good hide for this early in the season and doesn't have any rubs on him. What you gonna do with the hide? What do you think he weighed, 250-300ish ?

Rug for his hide and hanging meat was 227# so with hide and insides I would say right around 360 or a little more or less. Felt like a million trying to pack him out.

Treat the blackstrap just like abalone. Pound, drown in egg, dredge in crumbs, fry.

Yes two shots... Broke his back with the first and nailed him in the ear with the second. That blood on his shoulder was from all the blood from the head shot. 7mag with 150gr Barns Vortex TTSX Deadly accurate.

As far as table fare the Backstraps and Tenders are my favorite the there is lots of salami, linguisa, sausage, and some burger with some beef fat. Overall depends on what the bear is eating and I have had terrible bear and good bear. I guess I is like getting a big pig or little guy. In this case I was looking for a nice size rug and this guy fit the bill. ;)
