Not everyone. Stop spreading that myth. All DoD contractors weren’t allowed to make it up last time. I took paid time off. It was that or no pay due.

I’m sorry, almost everyone. Every gov. Employee I know said they got back paid last time. None of them seem too worried....more so upset on how incompetent EVERYONE in DC is.

Oh, no doubt, the gov civilians did. They got free time off. I’m not worrying yet. And yes, DC is a sheetshow. I expect 3 more years of obstruction from both sides. Yay us.

We have term limits. They are better known as elections. Apparently, voters are satisfied enough with their representatives to keep sending them back to DC.

I'm waiting for a passport renewal (that I actually paid extra to expedite :doh)
Not a huge inconvenience compared to many.

Non-essential, in these situations, has always seemed like a good way to determine where spending can be cut from the federal government.

It is atrocious that congress still gets paid during these shutdowns and I also find it odd that government employees get backpay for work not performed. I’m not wishing anybody misses out on paychecks, but how, exactly, is the government shutdown if employees are still being paid but basically get time off and just have to wait for their paycheck (obviously inconvenient and probably hard on most)?

Congress, if unable to keep the government open, should not be paid and should not receive backpay.

Considering socialist Bernie Sanders is worth nearly $1 million and anti-1-percenter 1-percenter Lizzie Warren is worth $15 million, do you think any of them are worried about a few thousand in salary?

My wife is a federal heath employee working on the Fort Hall Reservation. She is considered essential and required to work.
A number of people were to go to an intensive training this week. My wife paid up front, months back, The airlines refunded and the motel however a non refundable bus to the SLC airport will not be rfunded,.. We dont get a refund but credit for a $60.00 ticket,.. for a canceled meeting.
At her work place 5% (admin) have to stay home and get paid. Nearly everyone else is required to work, they will get back-pay. But my wife wont get paid for the bus ticket.
Screwed up my plans,..Big time. I was headed out for a three days of camping, ATV'ing, setting some cat snares, hunting geese and coyotes in remote back country.
