Good or bad thing?
Common-sense gun legislation.
celebrate as you like, it is dead in the Senate.
Not dead in Senate by any means. We have enough 2nd amendment states represented currently by Dems that will buckle for re-election
Yep...allegedly there are a handful of pro-votes from the dems.
Needs 60 votes (why 60) from the THN commentary this morning
The Senate may require some minimum level of training, which would be OK with me.
Don't most Concealed Courses? I wonder how the law will be written to follow state specific regulations.
Some states don't offer CCW permits. Vermont, I think. They have no rules and anyone can carry. Works for them, and if I lived there, it would work for them. But a lot of opposition is based on "anybody can carry, even if they have no training". Requiring a reasonable training would quiet that issue. Of course, I am sure that some Democrats would require a 40 hour course with 16 hours of range time, can only carry a single specific gun, and must be renewed each year.
