Where I hunt, we have killed literally hundreds (maybe even thousands) of Gadwalls and not one of them was a hybrid. It might be a silly question but do they tend to show up more in certain parts of the country (where there is an influx of Mallards) or is it strictly a 'luck of the draw'?

Last 10 yrs we,ve shot over 3000 gads and only bout 200 mallards. 0 brewers. I would think u would have higher chances where there are more mallards. I've been told they do anything that'll hold still.

I'm getting 2 to 3 a year from clients out of Arkansas where the Mallard concentration is high, may lend credibility to Brazosboyt's theory. Seems in the last few years they are showing up more, but still not a dime a dozen.

We have an outstanding gadwall place and our members have killed great numbers of them over the years. I have seen one Brewer's duck in all that time.

I really think many hen hybrids are killed that people don't recognize.

Here's a good one that came in this season. One of three killed I am doing.

This is the first I have seen or taken. It came in with another gadwall.
