Many people use these types of speakers and they are certainly loud enough to work and finish birds. Most guys promote having lower volume to effectively finish birds. Now if you want to reach out and turn some from way off, they aren't the best for that. In that case you can also run horn speakers, and even a dedicated caller just for this that you have volume control over, to crank up when you need it and down as birds approach.

    From earlier in the thread:

It is easier to blow speakers with an underpowered amp (throwing square /distorted signals at the speakers) vs having an overpowered amp. ie. 100 watt amp , 30 watt speakers.

Don't buy a cheap amp, problem solved. The $15 amps everyone wants to use do NOT work well with outdoor speakers. Not only do you run into the issues BRD is saying you will overheat your amp. If your going to build a caller and want to run outdoor speakers spend another $50-$60 and do it right

I put this amp together to you use in the landing zone. Has good sound and the bluetooth range is good. I was 70 feet away and still could control volume and change tracks and start stop it. I used my phone. I noticed if I have my phone in my back pocket, it has trouble going through my body. I may have built it to late to test it out on some birds though. We are going this weekend. Hopefully still some migraters coming through.

    You can find cheaper ones.

    The battery is a
