Hummiing bird HD GPS combos

    looking for some info and thoughts on a HD GPS combo fish finder?

    looking at the humming bird right now and looking for input from people that have used them.

    Me and my dad both have the 898 on our boats, he also has the 597 on his as well, no problems with any of them. Only advice is to update them when you can, free from Hummingbirds website.

    If you have the room in your boat, get the biggest unit you can afford. I started with a 798, and have since updated to a 998. The extra screen size makes a huge difference on what you can see.

    I have been looking at the 597 ci and the 587 most of the lakes that I fish I am familiar with but really interested in the GPS for a few new lakes I plan on hitting.


    one question I have is this. what is the best lake maps chips to buy? some of what I have read is that the sonars need more then 15 feet to work the best?
