When we field hunt we have always in the past just set out Canada goose decoys because they are most abundant. We had started seeing more specks every year so we decided to buy a dozen speck full bodies to put out with our spread.
So heard the question. Where do you pit them? Upwind from the main spread? To a side? Keep them separated? Any info and help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Whether, much less where, you put speck decoys with your Canadas won't matter nearly so much as how well you can run a speck call. If you can run their call, they'll come scour a Canada spread looking for the source. But at least down here with our little Canadas, the species might be seen side by side but generally segregated.

We typically see them segregated but not isolated. So we set the specks together at an edge of the Canada decoys with just a few mingled into the Canada's. I don't think it matters where just as long as you keep the kill zone for both species in good range. Rick is right about the call. They will find and want to land with their own species most all of the time.
