I don't know about that one. Here in No.Ca. i like my mild weather and sun for fishing. You guys are nuts, hookers and free beer wouldn't get me to sit on a frozen lake and fish.
Don't get me wrong if I'm not shooting at ducks geese or pigs, I'm fishing.Call me a wimp but if I have to think of a way to keep my beer from freezing I don't want to go.

Off to the lake for some trout.

Yeah, I guess we are pretty nuts going out ice fishing when it' s close to zero degrees, but he it's either that or go nuts sitting inside the apartment all winer.he,he,he. Oh well, it helps us appreciate the open water fishing when it finally comes around in about April. Anyway it's not too bad sitting in a heated ice shanty. There's beer, brats, steaks, poker games, nice magazines and some great posters found in the center of them. We usually end up hanging them inside the shack. But we all have to make sure to tear them down if the girlfriends and wives make it out. For some reason they don't like that stuff. he,he,he. Anway, it's not as bad as it sounds at times. Plus, I'll take my cold winters versus a really hot summer anytime. I can always throw more clothes on. Take care and let us know how the trout are biting.

    catch ya later,
    Krappie

Oh yeah Hund I almost forgot. I wanted to ask you about the steelhead. Do you guys target them right about now or wait a couple months before they start to spawn. We use to have a Skamania strain in some area rivers, but the DNR quit planting that species. I wish they didn't. Big, powerful fish. It would be common to catch 32"-34" fish daily.

    catch ya later,
    Krappie

There are so few steelhead in the Napa river if you caught one DFG asked it to be released.
We went for the river instead. To bad I didn't take my gun, there where rafts of Cans and Bluebill.
I took my Son and his friend (both are eight). Through in the pellet gun and some sodas.
Between driving the boat and shooting the gun we all had a goog time.
    I have a 1973 17' Bayliner i/o, o/b
    Caught one little striper.

Thats why they call it Fishing not Fish.

    Hund,
We like people with your outlook. There are already way to many people around here. How about Cali accepting a few more million people from the upper midwest. That leaves us few hardy northerners a little more elbow room and less competition on the ice and in the marshes.

People down here think I'm crazy because when they ask what I miss about Wisconsin, I always say icefishing. Those steelhead through the ice put up a huge battle.

Lordy! I don't even want to think about living some place where I can't ice-fish at least a few days in the Winter!
We actually get together and PRAY for 4" of ice to go on here in Cent. Illinois.
Guess our prayers were heard this year as we've had PLENTY of ice for the last 3 weeks.
BUT...I'll have to admit that 40 degree sun peekin' thru my south window sure is a welcome site.
HMmmmmmm....no wind....might be an excellent afternoon to drill a few holes!

Hey Hund, you're in the same boat with a lot of people that think we're nuts! If the fish cooperate a little it can be a blast. Lot of times it's less of a hassle than fair weather fishing. No boat, trailer, anchor, busted prop, dead battery, wind, waves, other boats, jet skis, other fishermen crouding in on ya when they see ya catch a few fish. Plus, the fish never taste any better than they do through the ice.
