    We JFG and Clayton et al. Here are some pics of our place and I need two ids from you guys. First pic is of a plant that looks similar to BYG but the seed heads have reddish feather looking hairs coming from them. Secondly we have a lower growing wispy looking grass. Our BYG looks great pics follow

    Blue, from the pics its appears the hairy (awns) looking stuff is indeed a barnyard grass (walteri, aka Walter's millet). Always seems to be a late summer germinating millet, you'll see lots of it growing in ditches or where there's abundant moisture. Your next pic looks like panic grass, which around here starts heading mid/late September. I've got a ton of it in my place, unfortunately it's not near the seed producer that BY grass is.

    What he said!

    I am pretty sure our Walter's millet and barnardgrass are cross breeding as we clearly have intermediate plants between the two.

    Thanks fellas. They looked so similar I thought they may be variations of the same thing.
