I have a 24 x 12 area off my house fenced in. Due to HOA I can’t fence my whole yard. With the rainy weather and freeze then thawing it’s turned into a muddy area as you can imagine. I’ve looked into getting artificial grass or a decking option. I’m sure the dogs would rather go to the bathroom on grass compared to decking. It’s a pain cleaning their paws every time the come back in. Any ideas or suggestions that anyone has used in the past.

6" deep gravel. Lets the water go thru but keeps them out of it. Concrete?

Mine is about 20' x 8' feet with fence and gate. It is 5' wide concrete, 3' gravel along the fence. I usually leave gate open as yard is fenced but when my lab is in there, she goes on gravel but if goes on other, easy to hose off.

I use cement pavers that cover the entire kennel. I add raised platforms of left over trex to allow them to rest of the cement.

I'd lay cement pavers on half and gravel the other.
