Back in the day I shot 1-3/8 oz of 5s at 1330 fps. Now I'm only shooting 20ga. Tough to beat Kent 3s and 4s at 1550. Like Rick I shoot a lot of 5s but have found the Fiocchi speed steel work better for me. I think the current high speed 20ga steel loads are a lot more effective than the old 1 or 1-1-1/8 oz lead loads.

I love to be able to shoot my old reloaded 23/4 lead 4’s in a AA Hull. If your talking commercial load probably Federal copper plated premium 4’s.

Lead 1 3/8 5s. AA hulls over 36.5 grains Red Dot. Shot everything with this, loaded this all through 80s and beyond until steel req

Grew up with this and knew exactly what it could and couldnt do

The old 1 1/4 lead 6s were deadly shells but all around ducks and geese 1 3/8 bag mags in #5. The old lead 2s in 1 7/8oz 3in loads were fun for geese and they could be way up there. Yes they were skybuster loads, you think Russians are shooting high now, at least with that load you had a chance. In later years rolled few coyotes with that load.
