Yep lots of fly by night operations that will gladly take your money.
What does it cost to hunt at Doug’s if you don’t get meals and lodging? Rick Hall guides over there.
I've not done any of the booking in so long that my best guess would probably be wrong, and I just tried Google to no avail.
I am at the point where I am about to just sell all my duck hunting crap and just go on guided hunts and maybe a trip out of state. So I have looked into the price aspect some, your looking at around 300 a gun for most better guide operations. That’s no lodging just show up and hunt. There are some around the 200 a gun per day also.
Doug’s is $395 I believe , or it was in 2012 and I don’t believe they do the just how up to hunt deal. It’s a complete package.
I'm just going to keep grinding.
“I'm just going to keep grinding.”
Grinding takes time, that’s a luxury I don’t have anymore.
In a way I guess I’m fortunate. Week off for Thanksgiving 3 weeks off beginning with the second split opener.
Trouble is within those 28 days only about 8-10 are worth hunting and only 4-5 produce 3 and 4 man limits in a good year.
Lots of looking up at nothing this year until January.
I would give up the first 2 weeks of 2nd split and start up around new years and roll for 3 weeks, but I know that might not be possible.
I'd quit altogether before thinking about going on guided shoots, or buying a spot in a pit, etc. But I fully understand where you're coming from with little time to do it the hard/fun way.
