I'm in southern VA and have two food plots in close proximity totaling 3-4 acres. Any recommendations on what I could plant that would be ready in time for opening day of dove season over Labor Day weekend? Thanks in advance.

Have you had good shoots over brown top millet? Ive got 3 acres that will be going into a grain sorghum, forage sorghum, a several varieties of millet. Its mainly for the quail. I'll also have egyptian wheat and forage sorghum buffers to keep my food plots shielded from the road. I sprayed a 1/2 acre plot today and thought about brown top millet so I could take the kids down for a dove shoot.

Have seen brown top burn a couple weeks before dove opener attract lots of doves. Sure easy to find them if you shoot them over burnt areas! Dogs do tend to get a little sooty though!

My field had to be leveled so we got that done yesterday. It was so rough previously I would get high centered in my SxS. Gonna spray today and plant for doves/quail in the next few days.

Best planting is winter wheat, a few strips at a time, beginning in early August.
