There’s not a 3” load commercially available in 2-4 shot that won’t consistently smash ducks at reasonable ranges, IMO.

Have used that load through a Briley LM from Canada to California, from Honkers to Woodies. I've had excellent results.

For years I've used Kent Fast steel 3" #2 (& #3) in my SBE II 28" barrel with factory chokes shooting ducks with no issues (except for my bad shooting). For honkers I use a more robust load.

I've put many cases of that in #3 through my SBEI using factory choke (both mod and improved) and it's worked really well!

I have used this load hundreds of times.
Although I prefer a pattern master for my choke.
If it is 35yrds or less it’s dead
If our 35-45 I would suggest loads like the 3.5” with a faster FPS.

Like Wood-Dro, have shot Kent FS 3” 1 1/4 both in #2 for storms and #4 for at least 9 years out of my SBE2 with a Briley LM choke. They seen to work at typical ranges if you do your job.

    wait... what???
I developed a hatred for #2 shot based on multiple frustrating misses with Fast Steel 2's. Felt like sure kills when I pulled the trigger, but missed over and over again. Got rid of a flat of them, and I shy away from #2 shot in any format now. Never could figure it out, shooting paper it looked great, but worthless for me in the field.
