I recently received an old keyhole olt d2. I have two questions
    1) What are the modifications that are done to them/ advantages

    2) What is one worth?

    Thanks, Gabe

Check Ebay. The price fluctuates, and its only the hard rubber keyholes, and bakelite keyholes, that command high prices. I have picked one up for $60 recently, unmodifed. After it is modified, the value depends simply on how it sounds with the cut. They are easy to ruin in the "cutting down" process, trust me..... :)

I guess the question that I should have asked is who would be a good person to send it to to have it modified?

There are a few out there that will do it, can do it and then those that claim they can do it. Be carefull. Kirk McCullough seems to be a popular one that folks seem to go to quite a bit and I have yet to hear anything bad coming from him in the cutdown department.

Bet out there, Those old calls can be brittle and so I would send it where its going to be the safest. Dave has the original cut down jig that the Olt people used back in the day. You can even buy a new insert from him that has been cut down as well, Modern materials. Kel

Thanks for the info guys! I really like the sound of the call now so I guess I need to decide whether to leave it be and use it as is, leave it on the shelf or send it off. Decisions, decisions, decisions!

Clent with Fowlfield Calls does a good cut. The one I got from him is much easier to blow than my KM and sounds great.
