The sponsor of this bill (Senate Bill 1985), Senator Harmon is one of the most anti-hunter legislators Illinois has. He is in the back pocket of the Humane Society and other animal rights groups. The wording of this bill is purposely vague on his part when he uses the term "natural areas". That could be interpreted to mean any undeveloped area. This ban could affect everyone no matter where you hunt. It is all part of HSUS normal strategy. Ban ammo 1st, then lead fishing weights, then ban any lead at all (decoy weights?). Senator Harmon is also running bills to stop Bobcat trapping (Senate Bill 1981) and the worst of the bills is the one that requires the DNR to do basically an environmental impact statement to open any new seasons for wildlife hunting or trapping (Senate Bill1983). Call you Senator and Representative today and oppose his bills.

Were so wrapped up with amending the carry bill and with the stupid suppressor bill that I've lost track of the led ban bill.
Surely there's enough common sense left in our chambers to keep this beaten back. I'll ask about it while we're at the Capitol tomorrow.
