Anybody learn anything new this season?

I relearned something. Always scout before you hunt. I hunted on a farm that I've killed a turkey on every year for over ten years so I took it for granted that birds would always be there. Hunted three days without hearing a gobble. Just kept going back. I have no idea where the birds went that were there all year.

Out of frustration, by brother tried a spot on some hard hunted public land the next day. He got out of his truck and birds were gobbling. Called up two and killed one in half an hour.

Always hunt where there ARE birds, not where they were.

I learned I don't have as much time to turkey hunt as I used to.

    For added emphasis.

But to reply to the original post. I'm sure this is just for turkey hunting. Don't apply this lesson to duck hunting, totally different sport. Please share this with everyone in my area.

I reaffirmed my knowledge that mushroom hunters and coyotes suck.
