Thanks, it is amazing what that jeep will go through. Broke 3 inches of ice with it a couple weeks ago for a half mile to get to my shooting hole.

I have never had a jeep ( a CJ type) but had a Jeep cherokee TJ with the italian VM 2.5 turbo diesel in it, that thing was very compitent off road for a family car, and i have wnted a proper jeep ever since theose days, but they are all petrol and i dont do petrol trucks.
My TJ had the dana axles (bit stronger than the chrysler ones i believe, and the gearbox is the same as a cj i was told so i am guessing one could get a TJ TDI Like my old truck and fit the whole engine and bellhousing etc to a cj quite easily. Trouble is i have too many projects on the go as it is, so if i ever go down this road is another thing.
I did buy or rather my brother bought it on my behalf a toyota FJ55 pig i will be rebuilding that when i get back over to New Zealand over the winter.

This is my old TJ, like i said had the 2.5 litre VM turbo diesel in it 160 BHP

Thats a cool looking machine there mate i like it.
For those interested in good hunting machines do a search for australian roo and fox trucks type in ute Hunting ute something along those lines, my guess is that will throw up lots of interesting trucks, with typical ausie inovations. they generaly use toyotas/ nissans but others too,. Kiwi pig hunters can have some simalar outfits but the ausies seem to have the hunting rig set ups off to a fine art.

I want a proper jeep someday, the thing i like about jeeps is they do drive as good as they look. The same can not be said for landrovers series models and defenders.
