The reason Weedy’s calls were often psychodelic in color is because he took cast acrylic scraps and welded it together with something like IPS Weld-On and then machined it. I know the late plastic salesman who sold him the material.

Weedy was an eccentric and pretty wealthy but he lived simply. If you look around Little Rock, you’ll find them from time to time. The Pin Oak was very popular in its day around Central AR. Many would wrap those wild colored Weedy calls in black electric tape.

Another one to look for is the original Arkansas Mallard that was made in England while we talking somewhat rare underground calls that were great.

BTW, That late plastic salesman worked for the company that did the machining of the first mass produced RNT acrylic calls before John Stephens and Butch Richenback took the work in house. Sorry to ramble. Like seeing these posts.
