Although they are not rare on Erie, I have never have never seen a longtail before. I was quite excited to get the opportunity to shoot this one this morning. I know they were doing well on them west of us and they usually get some east of us, but they aren't real common around me.... or I just haven't been in the right place at the right time...until today! That is now two species (both seaducks) that I have never shot before. If this one only had a tail on him, he would have had to go on the wall, but a young one with no tail.... I'll wait for a prime drake. Although it was a slow day for us, the "shorttail" duck more than made the hunt! Only two days left in our season and the depression is starting to set in....BUT I won't let that ruin my last two days afield! See you tomorrow, unless we whack a bundh of those "other" ducks.
