I haven't been on this forum in quite some time. I lost my hunting dog a couple years back and wrote this little tribute for him.

    MAX

My best friend, who was always by my side.
The glory days are behind us, but we had one hell of a ride.
We chased ducks and geese each weekend, and boy did we we get a ton.
We almost always a filled a limit, and when we didn't we still had fun.
I can remember your cries of excitement as I loaded up the truck, you and I both hoping that we'd have a little luck.
As each season passed And you lost a step, it was hard for me to see, mainly because I could see the pup your heart wished you could still be.
Those countless nacho cheese Doritos trips we'd make after some of your best retrieves, was my way of showing you what you really meant to me.
In your 16 years of life, you have shown me nothing but your best. These words are true and full of love and hard to get off my chest.
Good times don't last forever and boy did we have quite a few, you're the greatest hunting dog I've ever had and I'm sure gonna miss you.
Rest in peace sweet boy, you deserve to be pain free, I hope I've meant to you what you have meant to me.

Great picture of Max, he was a good looking boy. 16 years was a good run. Sounds like you two made the most of it!
