I'm with Cooksey. Do away with the 4 AM start time and you do away with the race. I hunted before the race start time was begun and I never saw a problem. They put that 4 AM crap in the regs to stop the guides from getting the "good spots", then outlawed guiding on the WMA's and forgot to remove the stupid 4 AM rule.

Heard a rumor of some fellows who were taught not to sleep in a hole at a WMA opening weekend.

There are tons of folks who sleep in their holes. There will always be those who chance it.

Here's an idea: Invest in a boat that'll handle big water and l go places the average idiot is not equipped to go. That's the handwriting on this Arkansas WMA wall.

your wrong, , it will just be idiots with less sense, and bigger wallets.

Not far from St. Louis, in IL. we have a large lake with good duck hunting. there are a few especially good spots on the lake. about a week before opening day, guys start sleeping in there boats, and stay there the entire season.

getting into the shallows is an issue, so now there are 50-11 dudes in airboats running ducks off of the lake.

Very true, and I can't personally vouch for the accuracy of the story, but I understand the group of "sleepers" got the hell beaten out of them by the group which came in at legal time. My source is about as reputable as they come.

I know one IL location that has a "crew" that rotates daily to hold their spot on the ramp. You have to be off the water at 1PM I believe and can't launch again until 4 am. I have heard a couple got tickets because 2 boats would not load prior to the 1 pm rule so they could hold the ramp until 4..... last off, first in.

I guess I'm just not mad enough at the ducks to put in that kind of dedication......:doh
