    No it doesn't make one wonder. All one has to do is look at how many women are currently ranked in the top 100 of the The Fédération Internationale des Échecs list of Top 100 Chess Players.

    The #1 ranked woman, Yifan Hou, is currently ranked #74 overall.

    The government should not and can not legislate fairness or equality. Someone always loses. Title IX is a prime example.

    Wouldn't last long... [*completely hypothetical statement ahead*] You'd have women who "want" to play pro football, and teams that say "nope, because you suck at it". She'll get offended... She'll get an attorney involved. Football team will then be forced to allow her to play for them, because after all, e'erbody has to be equal. It is what sports are becoming. Everyone gets to play, and everyone gets a trophy.

    For those who have yet to figure it out... @hartfish has noted a fundamental reality of life whether applied to animal, vegetable, insect, microbe, human, whatever. No matter how we label it, even a celebrated second place is still the first loser.


    Further... who can name a significant aspect of life that is not competitive?
