I bought a Mossberg 835 ulti mag Tky last week and was wondering if shooting steel through it for ducks and geese would be ok on it, or if it would mess it up at all? It's chambered for shells up to 3.5" . Not a huge fan of Mossbergs but I found a deal I didn't think I could pass up. Thanks in advance guys.

I bought it brand new at Wal-Mart last week. It's got an ulti-full choke

    Shoot.it.
It was made to shoot steel and the 3 1/2 for waterfowl.

Clunky gun but very reliable. I would go with a more open choke. Mine has killed bunches of snow geese and I wasn't very kind to it. Been through mud and muck many times. I broke the forearm once and put this tactical one on. These days I shoot an 870 because it's lighter and I'm a better shot with it but I wouldn't hesitate to take old mossy on any hunt. 20171109_192028.jpg

If it has an ultifull tube in it I do not think it is safe to shoot steel through it. The ultiful sounds like the tightest turkey choke for the 835. If I remember right each choke has marking on it what choke it is and what to shoot through it. My 835 and chokes are in a safe at another location so I can not check for sure. It probably says lead only on the Ultifull

Agree. Xtra full any choke usually not good for steel. Install choke specified for steel.
The meturilogy of the barrel will hold up fine.

If it has a full or mod choke. ..you can use it for steel.
