I know that So. Ill. is primarily mallard and grey duck territory, but what diving duck species would you say is most common or most sought after in So. Ill. ? I realize that those might be two different things (common vs sought), but let's hear what you think. Thanks!
Had a new hunter out with me on Saturday at Crab. After a typical Crab morning, he was pretty excited about the little diving duck swimming our way. I let him enjoy the show, but eventually let him know before he could bag his first hell-diver We're customizing a robo into a diver for a DU raffle, so that's why I ask. Trying to decide what to paint it as.
Can't go wrong with a Canvasback. As far as most commonly seen that depends on where in Southern Il you are hunting. One area I hunt its hooded Merg(not really a diver but close enough) another 15 mins away Bluebill is king.
Hmmm, a guy named “greenhead” that lives in “gaddieville” know soo much about divers. What is happening.
Not much into divers but what I mostly see are ringnecks and bluebills both basically black and white
I don't know about down there but up here I killed my 3rd can today. They were on 3 different hunts. We don't see that many. It's usually bills with a few ringers. Danny
