Will be going on first snow goose trip next week to mound city area. Looks like highs near freezing. Haven't seen much about geese migrating there yet. Wondering how the hunting is so far with this little warm up.

Before March 1st in Mound City is always a coin toss. There are years when the best hunts happen mid-February and there are years when the geese don't even make an appearance before the first of March......You should be ok, but if I had to guess it will be leading edge adults, probably need the weather gods to help you out to have a great hunt....pray for sun and a breeze!

I'm located just south of the Squaw Creek NWR / Mound
City area & we have yet to see any migrating light geese
...During our last warm up three weeks ago, we had
10,000+ of our normal wintering snows show back up
in this area, only to leave when the heavy snowstorms
arrived...We reached the 40s today with close to 60
tomorrow, so most of our snow cover on the fields will
be gone...It's going to be a muddy mess for awhile, but
they're showing back in the 20s about a week from now
    ...Be safe

Thank you Neck Collar for the useful info. I know Toye's camp has shot a lot of geese over the years starting about now.

But he also moves to where the geese are unlike some of the Squaw Creek guides......I think it was 2008 some of the guides ran clients for two weeks without a single goose in the area because the geese did not show up till I think the 3rd of March. Do your research on who you book a hunt with in the spring and don't be afraid to ask for opinions on them on this forum and you should be OK. If they ensure you they will be hunting Mound City I would RUN the other direction because sometimes that just is not in the cards.

If you have a hunt booked in Mound this weekend id hope your guide was talking to you now about hunting somewhere couple hours South of there! You probably have more snows in OK than Squaw does They will pick up some birds this week with the S wind...

First flocks are hitting squaw as I type with more following. fields are pretty much clear and surprisingly not that muddy. Tried a couple stakes yesterday and they go in 5 inches pretty easy. Trying an afternoon hunt today.
