The cougar tracks got me wondering. Anybody hunt mt lion on here?

Do you run them with dogs? Can you call them up like other predators?

When I lived in Colorado I did a lot of coyote hunting. We could hunt at night with lights and only once did we see a cougar while calling. Granted a lot of the time we weren't in cougar country, eastern plains.

I've heard of some hardy soles that cut fresh tracks and try to walk one down.

Dogs are definitely the preferred way.

Always have a tag in my pocket here in Arizona.

    The most successful method.

Absolutely, was "backdoored" by a lion once while calling for fox. One thing I've heard from lots of folks out west, mountain lions take a while to be called in. Some people like to call for 10-30 minutes and relocate, hitting several stands/day. In every experience I've heard a predator call bringing in a lion, the hunter was extremely patient, intentionally calling for them and it most cases it took over 2 hours. All with a fawn in distress call, the day I was backdoored we were playing a fox fight.

:tu , except in Arizona, everywhere is cougar country.
