My oldest will be 18 soon and is growing up way too fast. This was Trevor's 10th year turkey hunting and it has been an amazing privilege as a father to spend all of these springs in a blind with her. She has killed a bunch of birds, but she saved her best for year 10. I had seen these birds in this spot the morning before, so I knew it could be a good opening morning hunt. We set up about 100 yards from their roost and the hunt was over fast. The birds pitched down and within 5 minutes we had two jakes and two hens on their way to us, but we were watching the tom who pitched further out in the field off to our left. About 5 minutes after the hens and jakes walked off, there the tom came. At 20 yards and posed right next to the stutter decoy, Trevor gave him a face full of #6 Hevi Shot. A fast hunt and a perfect morning with my not so little anymore girl.
