SALTYSARGE is that a newer model or one of the trusty pre90's guns?

Newer one. Bought in 07 I think. Has that stupid key safety lock.

VersaMax is Remington’s Redemption. Solid and reliable weapon.

I've heard you say that more than once Mike, that's good to know. I have a pile of older Remingtons, but that 1187 turned me towards pessimism of their auto loaders.
When you speak of redemption tell me about the reliability part. Does it require constant cleaning? Does it handle light loads no problem? Is cleaning a breeze?
My old 1100 mag requires constant cleaning, like every hunt type cleaning.
I don't necessarily mind that since I'd like it to last forever in crisp condition.
I do like to hear they have a solid product, albeit you may be one of the few I've heard it from, as few people own a newer Remington auto loader.

Easiest auto I’ve ever cleaned, but runs dirty. Cycles everything. I wore out an action spring, but replace them in all autos every few years. Wolff extra power mag spring and Wolff extra power action spring (Benelli fits since they don’t list V-Max) and it’ll never have a problem.
