We saw quite a few new birds moving through yesterday morning NW to SE & our young hunters were able to convince a few of them to come down for a look...These young kids are so fast with such quick reaction times that I ended up just setting back & watching the show...At least I didn't have to clean any birds!
Set up late Sunday morning on the south side of the lease State Lake to the north had for trucks on the east side and one truck on the west. Lots of Snows and white fronts going over with few migrant ducks. Only had one small flock of wigeon come in knocked down 2. Lots of shooting on the lake . Three canadas went over low headed for the lake group on the west side unloaded on them. Don't know if they hit any. Had a five-by-five mule buck walk Within 50 yards of my lay down nice deer if you like mulelys.
This is about as much movement as I have recorded in the last 10 years or so this early in my neck of the woods. This would of been a great year to have the season start a week earlier. The only potential issue I see is the N winds are predicted to blow for the next 3 days. IT may just push these early birds on out.
Got cold weather up north thats the key freeze up in the dakotas and some snow temps to negative 5 in places
And cold weather up north moves birds??? Did you figure that out all by yourself or did you read that in a DU magazine?
