The new Colorado trucks are starting to hit dealers with a 305 hp engine, like anyone runs their truck at 5800 rpm, a 6 speed auto, and mileage a couple mpg about the full size model.

The new Colorado certainly fell short of where I thought GM might be headed. I was hoping for higher tech engine like GM's 4.3L they use in their full size trucks and a 8 or 10 speed tranny like Ram and better MPG.

My wife's 2011 Colorado has the 5.3. Snappy little truck with the 4:10 ratio, but it rides like a lumber wagon.

A small 2ish liter diesel woulda been perfect.

There is a lot of folk saying that, but the diesel model would have to get 32 mpg highway and 20 city to break even with the V6.

Should be easy to do shouldn't it? If Dodge can get 28 in a half ton surely it can be done in a mid size.

I'm waiting for the ZR2 model.

Only 106k on my Cherokee. I have time.

4.3 was ok for its time but just an old standard push rod engine. 305 hp is pretty respectable in a truck that size though.

It's going to get a 2.8 4 cyl. next year. We were fixing to put it in the H3, the old Colorado/Canyon and 2 smaller Hummers before they shut us down. They claimed to have H3's getting over 30 mpg on the highway with it.
