New to the forum. Plant id?

    I wouldn't worry about cutting it, seed will fall and ducks will work there way through along with rail and hundreds of other species. It will lay down once it turns brown

    This^. Leaves should get off it in November/December, birds won't have any issue having open water to find it. But they do tend to hit smartweed later into the season however.

    Had right much of this come up since my browntop has matured about 2 weeks ago. Any ideas on name and any good?

    I was wondering myself. I have a bunch of crabgrass outside my impoundment which i call wild millet but it has seed head like browntop. Maybe more than one variety of crabgrass? I have lots of millet in the seed bed here as i have the foxtail millet and barnyard grass (wild millet i call it) everywhere but this has since popped up now that the browntop has matured and laid down. Grass looks similar to crabgrass but never seen the long skinny head like this
