Hello all! I'm a new member to the Duck Hunters Refuge Forums and would like to introduce myself.

I am a 44 year young family man who is blessed with a beautiful, loving and understanding wife and 3 little stinkers (boys) ages 4, 7 and 10 :tu My oldest made me proud this year by showing his maturity and dedication to hunting by putting in the time and effort to successfully pass his Hunter Education, WTG "Big Guy"!!

I am a lifelong Alaskan, hunting and fishing have always been a way of life for me and duck hunting was my first passion! I cut my duck hunting teeth down in Juneau out on the Mendenhall Flats and out Fritz cove rd where I lived. I was a rabid duck hunter, hunting them at every opportunity even at the expense of HS classes and homework . That has changed since moving to Anchorage in 96. Since living in Anchorage my duck hunting has been spotty at best, I get out for a few early hunts and then hit the Northern birds a few times later in Oct. Thats going to change this season!!

Feel free to ask me any questions...............

Can hardly wait for the season to get here!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome aboard. I have kids the exact same ages as yours! All three of mine play hockey which drastically cuts into my duck hunting, never get out as much as I would like, I've become a weekend warrior........it sucks....

    Thanks for the welcome!

bigreid, is that a Chessie in your avatar pic? I have a 3 year old Chessie.

Eric_870, I have a lot of stories from my years in Juneau, here's a quick one from the flats. Went duck hunting the day of my baptism and was hunting a pit blind on one of the islands by the channel. Ended up getting stuck on the island by the tide, ended up missing my baptism and spent a good portion of the night out there until the tide went out. Most of the congregation came out searching for me, took them awhile but they found me. I hollered to them not to worry and I'd be to shore once the tide went out. That was around "84".

    That's a pretty good one!

Why didn't you just call over the pastor, wade out and do the baptism then? Everyone was already there, lol!

Send me a PM with some more stories!
