new law: teal season cannot open before sept 12th whos with me
And it's head was found by a coyote the night of 9/7/13.
Our BWT take was meager this year, compared to most. Naturally, a drive by this AM of one of our local spots revealed a scad of them. We plan to hunt the same spot tomorrow for geese. Pretty entertaining to watch em decoy, even if we can't shoot.
Hunted nearly every day of the season. Had 2 excellent shoots with quick limits, 2 mediocre shoots with half limits, and the rest were poor, 1 or 2 or no birds.
Last year was one of our best teal seasons, this year one of our worst.
Folks, over 20 years ago I led an effort to make sure that teal season started as late in September as possible.
I had petitions out at several places on the Causeway (Remember Macks Bait and Tackle?) I also took this petition to DU Events. I got several hundred signatures.
Sent it to Montgomery and got little help.
Somebody should attempt again to get this teal season straightened out.
Not sure what it would take Mike, but I'll help however I can. The 7th was wayyy too early an opener, as all the surrounding states didn't open til the 14th, even states north of us. Doesn't make sense. Hell our best shoot this year was the last day of the season, behind that front. 3 man limit in 20 mins. It's just starting to get good!
Maybe the record high #'s (on paper anyway) and increased bag limits will help the case. personally, it seems to me that they are migrating later every year. I read of our Northern brothers shooting them in November and saying they almost never saw BWT during their regular season until more recently. Hell, we had some come in on us in Jan in North Alabama last year. I can count on my digits the # of BWT I've shot during regular season around here. What I REALLY wish we could have is a Spring Season....I know, pipe dream.
